Rick St Dennis MFA inspiration day

My inspiration day for Rick St Dennis MFA digital stamps

Hi there everyone, it is my turn again to share my Elite Design Team work on the Sparkle and Glitter Blog, for Rick St Dennis Digital stamps
today my project is a cute one, usng '20 winks' this digital stamp is available in two formats, one with and one without the background/border. the one I am using today is without the border.

I coloured the fairy using copics
E000,E00,E21,E11,E04,R20,
BG09,BG07,BG05,BG02,BG01,BG000
G99,G94,G21
the background to the image was done with alcohol ink and blender solution

the papers I chose to go with this delightful fairy are from Craftwork cards,
the  butterfly edging die is tim holtz butterflight  cut in a corrugated brown cardstock and embellished with liquid pearls in petal pink

The flowers are cut from a papermania Oyster blush using the tim holtz tattered garland die, with more liquid pearls at the centre.
the decorative 'twizzles' were offcuts of the paper that I wound round my pokey tool!

I hope you have enjoyed this sweet whimsical card and to check out more of the EDT's Cute work please head over to the Sparkle and Glitter Blog!

new 'love' challenge at That Craft Place

pssst.... there's a New Fortnightly Challenge starting over at That Craft Place challenge blog!

Hi there everyone, I hope you are doing well and surviving the hideous weather that seems to be getting a lot of people! it hasn't been too bad here, just cold and rather windy! all the more reason to stay tucked up warm inside and make pretty cards! Today is the start of another challenge on the 'That Craft Place' Challenge blog, with LOVE as this fortnight's theme. for this challenge I have used the image 'Heart Strings' from saturated canary.. I've had her coloured up a little while (fortunately) as I had a copic disaster at the end of last week- which involved running out of ink in not one but TWO of my skin tone markers... luckily my favourite craft shop has saved the day, but the parcel understandably (seeing as the other bits I needed along with it weren't due in until Tuesday) wasn't here in time for me to get my project in before deadline...

I used copics -
E000, E00,E21,E11,E04,R20, E25,E29
G99,G94,G21
R08

stampendous frantage in shabby white
kraft card
cheesecloth-  from That Craft place
Collall Tacky Glue from That Craft Place
Papermania vintage notes buttons  From that craft place (aren't they gorgeous? I had to spread a load round the front of my card to show you how pretty they are, because I keep raving about them in my posts!)
Papers are from My Minds Eye summer splash 6x6 pad... absolutely love this white stained wood and the green chevrons together!
I also used some raffia, and one of my go to dies - my sizzix (green) photo corners die!

I hope you all have a great day, and I also hope to see you joining in with this challenge!

I'm Batty about you!

It's my hosting day over at the Airless Chambers Rick St Dennis EDT blog!

Today I have for you a card using 'Batty Bettina- Night Fairy' from the RSD zibbet store....

I wanted to do a slightly more grown up, darker valentine's make, and as soon as I saw the image the line 'I'm batty about you' popped into my head... so I just had to use her!
other than the image, I have kept the card monochrome, so the image really pops. I coloured the image using my copics, and also added some sky and grass.
I'm not sure what possessed me to give her flaming red hair, but I think it kinda suits her, don't you think?

I cheated and didn't hand cut the pennant for once, and it does look a whole lot neater... I had my brother scan n cut out and remembered I'd seen a pennant in the on-line software.. with a bit of tweaking, I had one exactly the right size for my needs, and then resized it again for the paper layer.
the sentiment was computer generated, and I just love the font!

finally I added some sparkly black gems to the top of the pennant and bottom corner of the card...

hope you like her!

Smeared Ink Blog Hop- 'In the Dead of Winter'

Hi there everyone, I have finally got a chance to join in with one of the blog hops over on smeared ink- I'm really hoping to try and play along most months if not all of them!
this month I have actually made two cards to take part- the first being this one:

using Holly Sugar Skull which I bought from Delicious doodles before it closed, but GOOD NEWS!
it is now on smeared ink!

I used copics to colour the image, and then added glossy accents to all the red berries. I chose a fairly simple layout and oddly for me a rectangular card base.
I used red berries distress ink round the edges of image and paper.

Secondly, I have made the darkest card I have ever made- I was having a really bad day and that kinda helped... and I did feel better afterwards!
This one is made using 'to all a good night By Rick St Dennis MFA
and also a skull and crossbones paper that was a freebie quite a while ago also from Teri Sherman.

This one I coloured in a mixture of copics and promakers as I don't have the requisite reds in copic yet.
I cut a piece of the cheesecloth I bought from That Craft Place , and stained it with red berries and vintage photo distress ink to mimic a blood stained gauze. I painted the black matt behind the image with acrylic paint, with a good lot of texture left in still.
i painted 'snow' and 'icicles' using gesso and some stickles- it didnt turn out entirely how I wanted it to, but I did the best with what I had at hand!
the papers are also distressed and edged with red berries DI.

I hope you have enjoyed my slightly macabre makes and see you again (hopefully) next month for something else!

and here is the blog roll so you can carry on hop hop hopping!

Monochrome at That Craft Place- new challenge

Hi there! it is time for a brand new challenge at That Craft Place, and this fortnight's theme is 'monochrome' I had great fun with the theme despite my original misgivings about being able to colour in monochrome! apart from the odd itch to add a pop of colour which I firmly squashed, it was better than I thought!

I originally wasn't going to use 'love from sugar' again as I used her for my last challenge inspiration, but as I had her in my colouring pile again, I decided to test my monochrome colouring, and in the end loved it so much I couldn't not finish the project with her! I think it proves that you can use one image in so many ways! and i also have to admit, she is one of my favourite Sugar Digis!

I coloured with the copics - N8,N6,N4,N2 nothing else!
the sentiment is computer generated inside a speech bubble shape which I fussy cut.
I had some black and white papers left in my stash so I used three of these, matted in white and then black cardstock.
I made the flowers using an MFT die - this one is flower trio in papers to coordinate with the card, and if you look carefully the heart waste from the joanna sheen banner die is used as centres.
I also used white buttons from my last load of goodies from TCP- I can highly reccomend the docraft vintage notes buttons- you get a LOT in the packet and they are all so pretty!
I used some of my black lace as well, and my liquid pearls in opal- I'm trying to use it up so I can try the cosmic shimmer at TCP instead.. I have been assured it is the bees knees !
i also  used a rectangle of cheesecloth behind the image, which..you guessed it is from TCP!
once again, you get a LOT for your money and the cards I have done using it have hardly made a dent in the amount of cheesecloth I had!

That Craft place is both a physical shop in Polegate Sussex
and there is also a facebook group, so if you aren't near the shop you can get your goodies that way. you can either pay straight away or request a pidgeon hole and pay for all th goodies you have accrued at the end of the month.. fantastic idea for keeping postage costs down, and also it makes you less likely to miss items off your list ;)

I hope you come and play along in the monochrome challenge.. I look forward to seeing your entries!
