Tilda Birthday card with handmade flowers

Hello, Today I have made a card using one of my Tilda Stamps!
I have had it quite some time but this is the first card I have made with it! It doesn't help that last time I coloured her up ready, the cat walked all over her with muddy feet!
The card base and first layer of paper were cut using my scan 'n'cut - the card blank uses one of the inbuilt designs which I used twice and merged to become one shape.
I have also used a lace bow in the top left corner, some raffle tickets, a doily, some die cut flourishes, a die cut label shape , the die cut circle and lacy circle the tilda is sat in , and various layers of papers from the sew lovely and oyster blush paper packs, along with some webbing fabric (cut from a bandage)
distress ink, cotton candy stickles, pink half pearls and glossy accents. I also handmade the crushed concentric circle flowers I used , using a little half pearls as the centres.
The image I coloured using promarkers - blush, sunkissed pink, oatmeal and coral for the skin, marine, turquoise and soft green for the dress and cocktail, baby , pale pink and pale blossom (flex) for the pinks
The stamped happy birthday was stamped with memento tuxedo black and is a 'diffusion' wood backed stamp.

hope you like her! Rachel

Chi Chi Memories Birthday card 'Lion Boy'

I made another Birthday card today...just because I'm sure some little boy will be stoked to receive this card using Chi Chi Memories Lion Boy !

I found the layout sketch snooping through pinterest, and thought it would look ace with the papers I had chosen to go with the image - the papers again are from the DCWV 'all about boys' pack which isn't taking me long to get through at all! ( the stripy piece however is papermania bexley black)

I used kraft card for the matting around all the paper apart from the piece behind the image, which is coredinations in a yellowy gold colour.
the star embelishments and the decorative border towards the bottom of the card were cut on my Scan N cut and I added some buttons with twine in on top of the stars, and at the edge of the image,  and a few without dotted around at the corners.

The ribbon was some I bought after christmas from Wilkinsons, meant for present wrapping, but I loved the stitched detail at the edges!

I hope you like it!

Leibster blog award

Hello! I was nominated by Penny Rae for a Leibster award and she had some questions to ask me..so without further ado, these are my answers :)

What this is all about

The Liebster Award is a "Pay It Forward" like format created to bring awareness to blogs that have less than 300 followers. I love helping my talented friends get more followers and with only a handful myself I have to thank Penny for nominating me!

I was nominated by Penny Rae for a Leibster award and she had some questions to ask me..so without further ado, these are my answers :)

1-What is your favourite type of card to make?
I like making anything with lots of Layers ..
2-What tool can you not live without?
my pokey tool...it is useful for lots of things!
3-Do you have your own craft room or space?
no..unfortunately I don't really have much space, I work from a corner of our living room using the dining table! I have however claimed the sideboard next to it and all my craft things are in and on it, much to my husbands disgust as it is often a complete tip ;)4-Do you only make cards or do you make other types of papercrafts?
I only make cards right now.. I have been papercrafting for almost a year now and still exploring everything. I'd like to start scrapbooking when I can find the time!

5-What has been your biggest crafting achievment?
my cards featured in papercrafting inspirations magazine march issue, i was pretty ecstatic!

6-What is your favorite craft store?
I have only ever been to one proper craft store so far so it would have to be Samuel Taylors in Leeds
7-What is your favorite color to craft with?
oooh only one? pink is my favourite colour so i would have to say that though I like working with lots of colours. the stamp I use usually 'tells' me what colours I should be using with it!

8-Where do you get your inspiration from?
the other people I work with on DTs and from nature
9-Do you work outside the home?
not really.. I'd like to do more but I suffer from Fibromyalgia and it floors me quite often, so I am usually found in my corner working or tucked up in bed colouring
10-What do you do if you lose your Mojo?
go and do something completely non craft related for a while to clear my head
11-Which is your favorite Digi Stamp?

I can't pick a favourite... through starting this adventure I have come across many stamp artists and love so many of them, as their work is all so different !

I would like to nominate :

and my questions are :
1) what is your favourite crafting technique?
2) how did you get introduced to papercrafting?
3) what is your favourite brand of papers?
4) CAS or layer up?
5)what is your favourite embellishment?
6) what would you pick if you could only craft using one thing for the rest of your life?
7) what is your go to style of crafting?
8)do you do any other sorts of craft or just papercrafting?
9) do you have a favourite Die /stencil that you find yourself using over and over?
10)like penny rae I'd love to know what inspires you
11) and finally .. if cost was no object whay would be the next crafty purchase you'd make?

Happy Birthday card using Chi Chi Memories 'Hello Girl'

I made another card with Chi Chi Memories 'Hello Girl' this time in the form of a birthday card, and using a more conventional hair colour!

Ingredients ;
coredinations cardstock in sky and pale blue, black onyx sparkle cardstock from AMD
black micron pen, white pigment gel pen, half pearls, stripy ribbon , black ribbon, red 'sew lovely ' papermania paper , black and white bexley black papermania paper
chi chi memories 'hello girl'
happy birthday stamp from forever friends
2 label dies from sizzix sizzlets
8x8 square card base
we 'r' memory keepers crop-a-dile corner chomper
3D foam pads
spellbinders lacy circles
sizzix circles #2
AMD white 300 gsm stamping cardstock
silicone glue
anita's tacky glue
SU not quite navy ink pad
promarkers - sandstone, gold, mustard, pastel yellow and buttercup for hair
burgundy, crimson and cardinal for headband and shoes
true blue ,azure and sky blue for the dress, and black, cool grey 5 and 4 for tights

I layered the light blue cardstock on top of the black, leaving a couple of mm gap between card blank edge, black , and blue and cut two equal sized pieces of red paper to fit at both sides. for the central piece , I layered black cardstock again with the bexley black/white paper, and rounded the corners on the right hand side using the 1/4 inch corner chomper

I then stamped the sentiment on to some white stamping cardstock, and cut it with the smaller of the two largest label dies , placed near the top as i was only using the top edge.
I then used the largest with the sky blue coredinations cardstock to layer behind it. this i glued slightly behind the middle section on the card
I made a hand tied blue and adhered a black ribbon strip first to the bottom edge of the middle section. I glued the stripy bow onto this using silicone glue

I cut out a sky blue circle using one of the spellbinders lacy circles, and a plain white circle to fit inside it.
once the image was coloured, I fussy cut it and placed it onto the white inner circle, and added a couple of strokes of promarker pen around the feet to 'ground' the image.

I glued the image to the white circle and that in turn to the blue circle. I put 3d foam pads on the back of that one and adhered it to the card.
I finally used my micron and white gel pens to faux stitch around the edge panels, the sentiment and the circles the image was on, and added 3 half pears to the top left corner and the bottom right.

hope you like it,

Chi Chi Memories 'Hello Girl'

I recently found this stamp brand, and just had to play today, I needed something cute and uplifting to play with after getting terrified by the earth tremor we had this morning !

I made this card by using a tent fold card blank and cutting some spotty paper 2mm smaller than the card base, then cutting a rectangle of kraft card to a couple of mm smaller than that. using one of my little sizzix circle dies, I made some die cut holes in the craft card for the paper to show through. this I attached to the paper using 3d foam pads to add dimension and cast a shadow on the paper underneath. I stamped 'hello' with one of my hero arts stamps in the top left, using my  Stampin Up's not quite navy ink pad , then wound some green and white twine around the top, looping it round three times and finishing in a knot.
I coloured up chi chi memories 'Hello Girl' using my promarkers -
blush, sunkissed pink, oatmeal and coral for the skin, soft green, turquoise and marine for the dress, shoes and hair bow, and hot pink, carmine, magenta and baby pink for the hair . i also popped her up on 3d foam pads, at the top of the 'spot holes' .

she is such a cute stamp and I can already think of lots more to do with her, and may just go bankrupt shopping the rest of the store!

hope you like my little creation! lots of love,

Rachel

Left Of Center Challenges Dark themed Anything Goes DT inspiration

Hello! Time for your friendly mid way reminder for the LOC's Anything Goes (dark themed) challenge!
The LOC blog is HERE for those of you that have seen this post elsewhere !

This time round I have used an Alice image From Our Sponsor Smeared ink....

I used :
Promarkers , flocked chipboard letters, a TH fobwatch embossing folder, A Spellbinders impressabilities plate, Distress ink, Memento Ink, a Dimension Fourth pack of cards stamp,

coredinations Cardstock (red)
Black onyx cardstock from AMD

a background from the Alice in Wonderland 'important Date' Crafting disc
and of course the Alice Image from Smeared ink

Before matting the fobwatch embossed card, I sanded it back then distressed it with vintage photo ink and black memento ink in different areas using an old blusher brush
(Mum if you are reading this, yes it was the one you gave me, ooops !)

I matted that in black, then the black embossed piece in red, before aranging them on the matted background (which was printed onto Glossy photo paper)

and added the image.
I then added the playing cards to two corners and then the sentiment letters in the free space at the top. I made them meander on purpose :)

The playing cards are meant to represent the  Red Queen's soldiers (the clubs in the pack were the soldiers)
and the fob watches the White rabbit :) Unfortunately I had nothing else that would do for any of the other characters !

Hope you like it, and that it gives you some inspiration if you haven't already played along with this challenge!
I'd love to see you over there...

Pretty in Pastel .. a Girly butterfly card

Today's creation is a girly pastel card with lace and samaflora Tiny roses and butterflies... with an added dusting of sparkle!

I fancied doing something a bit different after what I have been doing for the past few cards made, So once I had finished off a lovely gothic card this morning, I decided to go completely to the other end of the spectrum and do something girly  and pastel!

Dies Used - Cheery lynne little butterflies with shadow wing
memory box tiny dancing butterflies,
and a swirl and a leaf scrounged off Sam ;)
Also used were oyster blush papers, some off white lace, pink diamantes, a brass toned key, 2 pins, and my trusty vintage photo stain.

The card base was 6x6 (roughly) so my first piece of paper was cut a couple of mm smaller than that. I then distressed the edges and swiped them with vintage photo.
the second piece was 3mm or so smaller than that and I repeated the steps, though this time I didn't glue the paper flat, but furled opposing corners up.
I cut a strip from the left over paper I used first , distressed, inked, and adhered a strip of lace to top and bottom edges on the reverse side. this went across the middle of the card, with the pins glued in behind it (tied together with another little piece of matching lace) on top of this I glued a key charm and my little pastel roses

I then added the floral swirl towards the bottom, overlapping the mid strip, and once glued down , I added some of the memory box butterflies using a wax picker pen (also in oyster blush paper)
I stamped the sentiment in vintage photo and inked the edges, then matted that on yet another little distressed piece of paper . this i put 3d foam pads behind, and positioned overlapping the top of the mid piece . I finally glued on the cheery lynne butterflies, and added diamante accents across the card.

Very different or me, But I hope you like it... and that it proves I'm not a one trick pony ;)

A rather belated HAPPPPPYYYY BIRTHDAY to my friend SAM

It was my Friend and creative mentor Sam of Samaflora's Birthday a couple of days ago. My brain got the date wrong, So I have only just finished her card!
I used my prize from TEW to create it (chosen with her in mind!

I made it CAS , with papermania papers, a Whispers sentiment stamp, a Samaflora blossom , some black onyx sparkly cardstock and a few black gems. to finish off, I used my We R memory Keepers corner chomper to round the corners of the card blank.
the image was coloured with my promarkers and then the outside edges of the cardstock were grungily inked with my memento ink pad

I hope you like it Sam and Happy belated birthday!
(P.S the glass is yours too!)
and I hope you don't mind if I enter it in a few challenges later ;)

Lots of Love, Moi

Results of the Kit and Clowder Saturated canary Colour along....

I took a Kit and Clowder Free Lesson this afternoon,                                                               (this is the website.... http://kitandclowder.ning.com/
Using Saturated Canary's Pixie Nerd. We were very kindly provided with a discount code so we could play along for less, and for that I thank Krista! it is a fantastic image, I love it to death already!

The colouring class was a quick overview of colouring a whole image instead of the courses which are more in depth. I'm very much considering saving up for a course as I have already learnt so much from an 80 min session (of which some was talking over things)

It took me most of the afternoon to colour , as it was colour combinations I had never used before  . I had another lady to thank for the colour combos used as I didn't have copics, and couldn't work out the corresponding colours.

After colouring her I made her into this awesome shadow box card - for this I adapted a tutorial from the rubber cafe.

but first the colouring - I coloured the image as best as I could, adapting the copic strokes to work with promarkers. In the more delicate detailing I used fine nibs. When she was all coloured, I used watercolours to surround the image. this was in shades of purple, blue and ochre.

The box card I finished off by adding two strips of purple glitter cardstock to the edges of the box card and one of my spellbinders oriental edging strip die cuts behind that edge (same on both sides)
I used Samaflora tiny roses and some die cut petals in the bottom corners, a purple glittered butterfly edging strip cut on my scan n cut at the top , and there are 4 cheery lynne tiny butterflies dotted around too. the trails are actually the waste from the wing cut outs !
the image is mounted on a mauvey purple irridescent paper inside the back panel of the shadow box . I didn't want to put too much overlapping the edges of the 'frame' as it is a detailed image and I didn't want to detract from it at all.

thank you so much to everyone that gave me pointers , and to Alyce of Kit and Clowder who was fantastically helpful too!
this is one card I will NOT be parting with!

Lots of Love, Rachel

Eiglassing 'stamp a bloom' Dog Rose

Today's project is another one using the fabulous Eiglassing's  Digis, in this case the Stamp a Bloom Dog rose

It is also my first attempt at working with vellum, as the flower is completely made of hand coloured vellum!

I coloured the parts using promarkers (be warned, you get messy!)
and veined them , and shaped with a small ball tool . apart from the top layer they are all held together with a small brad. I glued the top layers on and then flocked the centre... but coloured it to my liking!

the papers used are a DSP from my stash and part of a sheet of the oyster bloom papermania 12x12 papers. I followed the card sketch on this challenge http://inkspirationalchallenges.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/challenge-54-designers-choice-and.html
as I fancied doing something different for a change :D

the happy birthday stamp I used is from hampton art stamps, and the sentiment is matted onto the reverse of the floral DSP I used as the backing.

I think that is everything, and I hope you like it!

Clematis Banner Card

I have been feeling a bit under the weather the past few days, so today was the first day I have got my crafting gear out. apologies if this blog post is shorter than usual, my hands are killing me :(

today's image is Eiglassing's Clematis which can be found to purchase HERE which I was generously given as a prize after I won a monthly 'must buy no stash challenge '

This I coloured with my promarkers, and then faux stitched around the outside ( I have to faux stitch right now as I lent my sewing machine out..also, it has a tendancy to run away from me when I do use it and I end up making a mess!)

I cut a 5 inch piece of card and faux stitched around that as well, embossed with a spellbinders A4 embossing folder  , lightly inked the dots with blue ink then attached to the card base
I then went in my offcuts draw and pulled out some pretty paper remnants and made pennants of varying lengths and widths. these i layered up , overlapping each other and in some cases I added a little 3D foam pad .
I faux stitched across the main black piece and across he top, then added the image in the centre.
I has made me feel all spring like :)
I do hope you like it as it is quite different from the cards I usually make!

Little Blue Button Stamps - Sally 'Hello'

Another card from me today (aren't I on a roll...?)

Today's card is made using Little Blue Button's Sally With Heart.. she is a lovely freebie from LBB , so why not go and take a look at their shop and see what other images fall into your basket!

I coloured her using my promarkers :-
Black, cool grey 5 and 4
burgundy, crimson and cardinal
petrol blue, marine and turquoise
and almond, blush, oatmeal and soft peach for her skin.
apart from the purple tartan used for matting, the papers are all from Bo Bunny, a 6x6 pack called 'ambrosia'
also added are 2 lengths of red lace, a gorjuss heart ribbon, some die cut red buttons and a heart cut on my Scan 'N' Cut , and 7 little black diamantes
I stamped on the white cardstock in SU's not quite navy using a debbie moore stamp, and the sentiment is another lovely one from Hero Arts
as a final touch I inked around the edge of the white piece, using a little ball of cotton wool.

I hope you like the card :)

Just For Fun Challenge Blog - Easter! DT inspiration piece

Hello, and hope you are all having a good week so far. I am still in the wilds of the Orkney Islands Right now , but I shall be making my way home today *sniff*
Today's card for the Just for Fun challenge blog is one I mostly made on my scan n cut using a basket from one SVG file set and some multi layered eggs from another!
It is the first card I have made for some time without an image, so I'm not entirely sure I like it, but it got my 2 year olds vote of approval... I placed some feathers behind the eggs in the basket, and made 2 cross piece strips with faux stitching that I handwrote the sentiment on, and added a button.

I Just want to tell you that we have been having some problems with the linky tool, so sorry for the challenge being so late up.. I re published my post  at the top of the list. I hope all of you that can will come and join in with us!

Saturday 5 April 2014

I got bored... so I made another card! this one is a Mo Manning image!

This one is a Mo Manning image, provided in cropped form in her facebook group for us to use !

I think it is so very very cute!

With this one, I went clean and simple, as I think the image spoke for itself nicely without a lot of extra frou frou (i'm sure it would look good like that too, and will try it some point soon!)
I used :-burgundy, cardinal and crimson. petrol blue turquoise and soft green, pastel, sunkissed and dusky pink  promarkers
6 half pearls, a 6x6 card blank, coredinations card in navy, a papermania sheet from bexley black capsule selection , a hero arts sentiment stamp and a SU not quite navy ink pad for both stamping the sentiment and inking the edges of the image and sentiment

Love,
Rachel

Testing Mojo, one two three!

Hello all! I'm back off my holidays now (have been for a few days) but today is the first time I've made a project start to finish since before I left ... today's card is made with The East Wind 'Lucy Loo, Fire dance'
I bought the image last night, and was nearly finished colouring up when one of my pens decided to go BLORT and wrecked it. so this is take two, with a couple of changes from the original , including changing the skin tones used.

I used the following colours :-
apricot, spice and pastel yellow for the hair, burnt orange, pumpkin, amber, honeycomb and pastel yellow for the flames, burgundy, cardinal and crimson for the dress, and burnt orange, coral, baby pink and blush for the skin.

Additional ingredients were ;- satin flowers, card candi, 2 different colours of coredinations cardstock, papers from papermania sew lovely and (eeep the name of the other collection eludes me!)
1 diecut flourish behind the flowers and also used a sizzix houndstooth embossing folder and some sand paper. the sentiment was created in word. ooh i almost forgot... I used distress ink on all the edges to create a burnt effect..but subtly ;)

Hope you like it, I'm quite happy with it and the image reminds me of the old days. I was a bit of a wild child and I did have my own set of fire clubs, so as soon as I saw the image, I just had to buy it! fond memories :)

Left Of Center Ribbon/Flowers Challenge DT inspiration

Hello, and hope you are all well!

Today's inspirational make for you is this Card, using Sassy Studios Light Vs Dark image

I divided the card in half so you coukld really see the light vs dark battle. so on the left you have an angel on a lovely fluffy white cloud, and sunbeams, whereas on the right you have a gorgeous devil sat on her storm cloud , with lightening bolts emanating from it.

The clouds were cut on my scan n cut, and the black handmade paper I tore along a ruler so it was quite straight but still had some jagged edges. the left hand side is pearlescent sparkly cardstock.

The images as always were coloured using my promarkers as were the clouds, sun rays and lightening bolt (which were hand cut)

The flowers were from Samaflora and I used my electric printing tape gun thing to make the sentiment...

I hope you like it, and hope you have fun playing along with the ribbon and flowers theme this challenge!

PunkYouGirl Challenge Blog 'Lavish Lace' DT inspiration piece

Hello and for you today I have a journal cover using Stitchy Bear Stamps Goth Prom Queen

this is a first for me, as I have never attempted a journal cover before, this started as an A5 card and I thought it could be so much more... so I managed to procure some hard board and made a set of journal covers instead - unfortunately, the rings did not arrive by the time I went away , so shock horror, it is an incomplete project :(
please imagine it with lots of gorgeous black, purple and red lace hanging off the binding rings , to coordinate with the colours used on the cover.
I have however added a strip of lace behind the image, and handmade a shabby lace flower embellishment by layering three scrunched circles of lace, sewing them together, and adding a red half pearl in the centre to hide the stitching.

The image has been coloured using promarkers and the eyes have a layer of glossy accents on them ,as do the jewels in her tiara. I flicked red ink around the image to mimic blood splatter too.
The papers used are a damask style sheet from my papermania bexley black collection, a purple spotted Gorjuss paper from the mega die cut pack, and a strip of foiled lipstick print cardstock that I was given as a gift by a friend a while ago. the floral swirl was also a present in with my Samaflora flower order ,that I coloured using a black promarker, and then added stickles accents to.

the die cut corners on the image are cut using a small green sizzix die out of the same black card I have used for matting, and the sparkly black card behind was plain back cardstock that I embossed with a black glitter embossing powder .
I finished it with 4 copper tone metal corners  and attached the whole lot onto the prepared journal cover (the inside is covered with oyster blush 12x12 papers ) and I didnt show you the back cover as on the outside It is plain black.

once the rings have come, and I am over my trip back from the orkney Islands I will blog an updated picture!

I hope you all have fun with this month's challenge, and I can't wait to see your creations!
