it's the weekend!

Today I have made a card for you using The Stamping Chef image SoapBox

I used this sketch
found here : card sketch

I coloured the image using my promarkers and brushed in a grungy background using chalks... I matted in black cardstock, and used blue papers and a punky newsprint style paper. I inked the edges with distress stain
I added the sentiment in the bottom corner, a couple of little black diamantes, card candi  and a ribbon bow in the top right hand corner. Voila!

Challenge #27 at the Left Of Center Blog: - Delicious Doodles - Favourite book

This time round I have chosen to use La Rosa Muerta from Delicious Doodles, and as the theme is -Favourite Book, I chose 'Queen of the Damned' By Ann Rice as my inspiration...
I made a book card following a tutorial on Cat's Blog

To make the book, I used 280 gsm black cardstock for the pages, and a thicker onyx shine cardstock for the cover, from Anna Marie Designs. the black papers are from the papermania bexley Black collection
and the red paper came in a mixed craft bag I got some time ago.
the frame, fleur de lis strip and medallions are Sizzix die cuts, and the medalions have vintage brads in the middle.
I used my promarkers to colour the image, and peel offs to finish the corners. the sticker on the spine was one out of a packet given to me, and the title of the book was printed on pearlescent card and then antiqued with vintage photo stain.

I hope you like it, I am more than slightly in love with it!

Left Of Center's Relaunch - anything goes!

Hello everyone, I hope you are all having a good day! today I have for you a card made using Eiglassing's Nimue Skyclad
Those of you that don't know Eiglassing's work will also not know that the creator is a fellow DT of mine over here at the L.O.C and a friend of mine, to boot!
I love her witches and was really nervous of creating something that she would deem fitting..luckily I showed her what I had made first, and it passed muster! She also made my watermark too!

This card is fairly Clean and Simple, and the main thing that took any time was letting the backing paper dry...
I used my marbling inks for this, floated on water with a drop of washing up liquid , in a baking tray (shhh do NOT tell my husband..i'm not meant to be using household items for my crafting ;)  )
I used blacks, blues, and metallic blue, silver and gold. once dry and cut down to the correct size, I backed it on some dark blue pearlescent paper, cut the moon on my scan n cut, and also used the scan n cut to fussy cut the image that I had coloured using promarkers (using the direct  feature where NO cut information is stored in the machine)

the moon was glued onto the backing with anita's tacky glue, and i popped the image up on some little 3d double sided foam pads to add a little dimension.  I then took some gold mica powder and rubbed it in with my fingertip to mimic moon beams, and dusted very gently along her skin to make it 'glow' ..unfortunately, I cannot make it sparkle in the picture, so you will kjust have to take my word for it!
the finishing touch was adding a few sparkly star shaped gems to the sky , and adding it all to a 6x6 tentfold card ...

You can see all the other Design team's fantastic inspiration here - at the Left Of center Blog , and enter your anything goes on the inlinkz link up all month.. there are some fantastic prizes to be won!

PunkYouGirl- Fairytales gone bad Midway Reminder

Hello , this is my first card as a DT member of PunkYouGirl Challenge blog, I'm just loving the challenge of HAVING to create dark pieces of work....

The theme is Fairy tales gone bad, and I used The little mermaid as my inspiration, along with my fantastic image from Aurora Wings and can be found to purchase here - Evil Goth Mermaid with skulls. I only used the mermaid and skulls for this image and removed the beach she was sat on, instead putting her in front of a panel from Make it Crafty.

I matted a layer of blue pearl print pearlescent paper on top of the 8x8 card blank, and cut two slightly smaller rectangles from a sheet of 12x12 bexley black paper , i rounded the outside corners on each piece. I then cut another rectangle of irridescent textured paper even smaller and matted it on black cardstock. this went across the middle at a slight angle. a final strip was cut to go horizontally across the middle, with a lace overlay, with the image panel on top (also matted on black cardstock) The image was popped up on 3D foam pads to give some dimension  and depth to the card, and I also added an anchor cut on my Scan 'N' Cut machine. this was coloured with a grey promarker then partially heat embossed in random areas with copper embossing powder so it gave the appearance of rust/corrosion. i made the rope out of a plaited length of jute twine to hag it from and adhered it to the card with silicone glue at the knot.
I added 3 large grey half pearls to the bottom right hand corner, and edged the middle strip with tiny black diamante gems. i handwrote the sentiment on black card and roughly cut it out (don't mock my handwriting, please!)
both the image panel and the main image were coloured using promarkers and im afraid i used too many to list as I was colouring..if you really are interested drop me a message and I will try and work it out for you!

I hope you like my dark 'Ariel' from the little mermaid  card!

until next time!

DT call over at The East Wind

Hello, My name is Rachel, and I am 26.. I have been crafting for slightly under a year but am completely passionate about what I do, and I love colouring images the most!
I would like to show you the card I made today for you using this months freebie, which is absolutely gorgeous! I spent a while deciding what would do it justice, and came up with this scrap booking inspired 8x8 Card

I used some 12x12 papers from my stash, and also half of a spotty 6x6 paper from dovecraft , and the purple cardstock is Bazzill basics, textured cardstock. I also used tattered lace die cut corners, a marianne butterfly (doubled) ,a  papermania button, and some inspirational word strips from a scrapbooking bundle I was sent.
The beautiful image is coloured with my promarkers , and the eyes have a layer of glossy accents on them to really make them shine!
I have layered up bigtime on this card, and being brutally honest I have not loved a card I have made so much in a fair while!

I also design for Just for Fun Challenge Blog , Left of Center ChallengesSamaflora Flowers, and PunkYouGirl challenge blog

here are a couple of other examples of work for these blogs (although unfortunately, I cannot show anything for PunkYouGirl yet, as my first Piece for them has not gone live :(

This Piece was for the Just for Fun Blog, using Saturated Canary's 'Butterflies'  (you may notice an offcut of this paper in the piece I just made for you)
from this blog post :Just for Fun midway reminder

This Piece was for L.O.C using a Stamping Chef image called 'Bite me'
from this blog post :L.O.C -Die cuts

and Finally, a Mother's day card using Samaflora flowers (which has not been blogged but went straight on the Samaflora Facebook page)

If you do feel like having a nose around my Blog, I have more info about myself on the 'about me' page (although I HATE talking about myself!)

Just For Fun challenge blog - mid way reminder post

Hello, and I hope you are having a good weekend!
For those of you that don't know me, I'm rachel, and I am a new DT member for Just For Fun ...
there is more detials about me, and the blogs I work on in the pages of my blog, so feel free to take a wander about!

This piece I have used a Saturated Canary image called 'butterflies' and unfortunately, I can't link you to the image, as she was retired shortly after I purchased her.

I wanted this card to be quite clean and simple, as I'm not hugely used to shaped cards. All the papers and card blank were cut on my Scan n cut, I just made sure i sized them to leave a nice matt round the edges of each.
I used black pearlescent cardstock, then two bright and cheerful coordinating papers. i also cut some edging strips to go either side of the central strip, and made faux stitching with a thin micron pen. the butterflies are a little memory box die if i remember correctly!
the final touch is 3 blue diamante sparkles on opposing corners...

The image is coloured with promarkers (my blog name kinda hints at that!)
burgandy, crimson and lipstick red for the dress, almond , satin, blush and oatmeal for the skin, and walnut cocoa and cinnamon for the hair

hope you enjoy it and it has given you a little inspiration !

I am feeling SO Blessed

Hello, I know you have already heard from me today, and I hope you like my card for the Left Of Center Challenge blog...
some of you may have noticed that I have been fiddling around with my Blog tonight- It continues to be an ongoing project, as I am a self confessed blognoramus. I'm not great at explaining things and tend to waffle... I suppose the main thing is that I am passionate about my work!

so.. I have news!!
I have been accepted for not one but two more DT positions, these are with the PunkYouGirl Challenge blog and the Just For Fun challenge blog
thank you to both for liking my work enough to accept me, and I can't wait to start work....

Challenge #26 at the LOC blog Ike Art and The Stamping Chef Midway Post

This challenge I made two pieces...
so , there was one from The stamping chef you will already have seen LAST week, and one I have done from Ike's art THIS week...aren't you incredibly unfortunate? LOL!

This piece is made using Ike's Finch on Pine
and I made a flip card using my Scan n cut !

The Finch was coloured using my promarkers, the papers are from the papermania chronology pack (I think!) TH and Spellbinders cogs and image background are made from kraft card.
also used are my PSX large background stamp (now retired but I'm ok, I have two just in case LOL)
a white gel pen and some TH vintage photo ink

The sentiment on the flip of the card is from Birds Cards free sentiments

I think this card is pretty self explanatory, so I won't bore you with my process! the only thing I will explain is how I did the cogs- I used my Big shot to cut them from Kraft card, and laid them on some waste paper, some facing upwards, some on the reverse as they were different shades. I inked my stamp up using my only distress ink dabber, and made sure I put quite a bit on so it went drippy - the stamp itself can be a bit mushy (extolling all the things you love about a friend) so I didn't want it 'readable' I then stamped using random parts of the stamp and left to dry :)
bottom and middle cog die cuts are TH and the others are spellbinders.

challenge #18 over at the stamping Chef - Anything goes

For this piece I have used 'Plenty of Balls'

this image is available over at the TSC shop HERE :-plenty of balls

For this Card I have used plain black cardstock for matting, and complementing orangey papers from my stash.
I coloured the image using my promarkers - walnut, Henna and cinnamon
saffron, pastel yellow, vanilla, ivory, almond, blush and oatmeal and a touch of black, with a warm grey shadow round the outside

the only other added extra was some pearl and silver card candy , as I felt it needed a little something at the edges.
I didn't use a sketch - I just made it up as I went along, having a fun Sunday crafting session!

entering in the TSC challenge anything goes.
